The OAGG

The OAGG (Austrian Association for Group Psychotherapy and Group Dynamics) has been existing since June 1959. It was founded by Dr. Raoul Schindler and some colleagues to promote research, training and application of group dynamics and group psychotherapy. Raoul Schindler, whose theory on groups has been recognized all over the world, has been the chairman of our association until 1991. Since then the OAGG has been led by Dr. Alfred Pritz, also president of the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP) and, from March 2001, Dr. Ingrid Krafft-Ebing and from March 2004 Maria Majce-Egger. In March 2010 Mag. Maria-Anna Pleischl took over the position as general secretary.

Starting in its first years as a small group of friends the OAGG has developed to an organization with nearly 1500 members and numerous programs in group psychotherapy, group dynamics, counseling and organizational development.

In Austria we are the largest private education organization for psychotherapy and we have memberships in the OBVP (Austrian Federal Association for Psychotherapy), in the EAP (European Association for Psychotherapy) and in the IAGP (International Association for Group Psychotherapy). Concerning the IAGP the OAGG is the second largest member following the American Association for Group Psychotherapy.

The association is guided by a presidency consisting of:

Mag. Maria-Anna Pleischl (general secretary)
Dr. Elisabeth Wildberger (vice general secretary)
Mag. Günter Dietrich (secretary)
Ing. Mag. Gerhard Ostermann (treasurer)
